Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-08-20

This policy explains what information UnitFlip does and does not collect. In short: the values you convert stay on your device.

Who operates this site

UnitFlip (unitflip.net) is operated by NARUON. For any question about this policy, or to exercise a data request, contact ktgtiger@gmail.com — see the contact page for what to include.

Conversions stay local

All calculations run in your browser. Typing a value produces no network request of any kind: there is no conversion API, and we have no database of your conversions.

Share links and the address bar

When you press Copy link, the value goes after the # in the address — for example /convert/length/cm-to-inches/#value=10. Browsers never send the part after the # to a server, so opening a shared link does not put the number in our hosting provider's request log, in a cache key, or in a Referer header sent to another site. The link itself of course still contains the value, so anyone you send it to can see it.

Older share links used a query string instead (…/?value=10). Those still work, but we have to be precise about what that means: a query string is sent to the server, so if you open one of those older links the value reaches our hosting provider (Cloudflare) in that first request and may appear in its standard access logs, which we do not read for this purpose and which are retained under Cloudflare's own policy. The page rewrites its own address to the # form immediately on load, before analytics runs, so it goes no further than that first request. If you have such a link saved, re-copy it from the page to get the current format.

Local storage

To remember your recent conversions, your saved unit pairs, and your light or dark theme choice, the site saves a small amount of data in your browser's local storage. This never leaves your device, and you can clear it at any time with the Clear button in the "Recently used" section or through your browser settings.

Analytics

We may use a privacy-conscious analytics tool to understand which converters are popular. Analytics is only active when a measurement ID is configured. When it is, every event is limited to a fixed list of parameters, and that list contains no free text: the category or unit identifier involved (for example length or meter), and for a failed conversion a fixed error code such as not_a_number. The page address reported to analytics is trimmed to the origin and path, so neither a #value= fragment nor a legacy ?value= query is included. We do not send the numbers you type, the text you type into the search box, or the full URL of a share link.

Advertising

This site may display ads to cover hosting costs. Ad providers such as Google may use cookies to serve relevant ads. You can manage ad personalization through your Google account settings and your browser's cookie controls. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Blog comments

The blog is the one place on the site where you can submit content. If you post a comment, we store the name you enter (or "Anonymous"), the comment text, and the time it was posted, and we display them publicly on that post. To limit spam we also store a truncated, salted hash of your IP address — the raw address itself is never saved and cannot be recovered from the hash. Comments are held on Cloudflare's infrastructure. To have a comment you wrote removed, use the contact page and tell us the post and the comment text.

Your choices

You can block cookies, clear local storage, and use the site without an account. Because we do not collect personal information, there is no profile to access or delete on our side.
